The Legend of Watanabe Rika

Here are some of the amazing moments in Berika's career. Mainly ponkotsu moments, but some mysteriously skillful moments. From 2channel, put together by a Japanese K46 news site, which called this: The Legend of Watanabe Rika.

It started on the very first day of their first training camp, when she left her suitcase in the train station and had to rush out to recover it (it was still there):

Manaka tells of the day Rika was coming back to her room, but got off the elevator at the wrong floor and walked straight into the dorm mother's room:

Then there was the time they were going around the offices of various entertainers, to publicize the release of Silent Majority, and when they were visiting comedy duo Trendy Angel, Berika backed into a light switch and the room went dark.

Once she put a bag of cocoa powder in her bag and then forgot about it. Eventually everything in the bag was covered in cocoa:

When they were going to ride a jet coaster, with cameras to show their expressions, she agreed to go but then at the last minute was so scared she had to back out:

Going into a haunted house, she was going to be the big sister and lead the frightened Ozeki. But about halfway through, she herself became so scared she clutched at Ozeki and eventually dragged her head-first into a pillar:

In November 2015, at the first physical testing event:

She got a signed globe from the comedian Gorgeous, but left it in Naako's room when it went flat:

In the contest where they had to stop a falling washbasin just before it hit their head, by grabbing the rope it was suspended by, she had no plan and no system but stopped it closer to her head than almost anyone else:

In the very difficult game where they had to pick up an eel from one bucket and carry it across to another, she picked up an eel and flung it across the room -- straight into the other bucket.

Basically, of course, she's just incredibly cute, no matter what she does:

One week on Keyakitte, Kakenai?, she felt empowered to just jump up and suddenly do her "Revolution!" catchphrase (borrowed from Gorgeous, who gave her the globe) at any moment, no matter what else was happening:

On a hot day in summer, she stood up in the dressing room to get the flow of air from the air duct in the ceiling:

In the famous Brody magazine cover where all the members are holding weapons, she is placed holding a bazooka so close to the members behind her that they would be caught in the backblast (not her fault, this one).

In the Bokutachi no Sensou MV, she holds a slingshot -- backwards:

Aki-P, in enumerating the possible stars in Keyakizaka46, ended up mentioning Berika, saying: "You can't hate her." I'm sure her clumsiness and shyness sometimes makes him want to hate her, but no, he just can't. She has a certain something that makes her the very popular member she is.

  1. It is a fun trip through Rika's great history! So many laugh until you cry moments with this girl.

I should note though, she never used the globe as a cushion. Perhaps you're mixing it up with her turning Aoko into a pillow?

  2. Thanks. I double-checked and it turns out I misread the original caption. What you say is what I remember from the time, too. I was just seduced by a good story. Fixed.

  3. It is still a great story due to how incomprehensible it is! She says she wanted to take a picture, so she took it to Nanako's room, took a picture, and then let the air out. Why? It was never explained! However, it is a story that really suits Rika then, doesn't it?
