Saitou Kyouko: Being an idol is my true vocation

Vocation

2019.01.29

Being an idol is absolutely a vocation for me.

It's an occupation in which I enjoy the main activities and spend each day happily.

I feel huge gratitude to the judges who passed me in the audition.

For whatever fraction of a long life, it's great that I have become an idol.

I want to be an idol from now on.

Nagahama Neru news: Quiz queen, reselling Neru magazines, Neru had top grade in 2015 Keyaki auditions

Neru is on the cover of Nagasaki's monthly official info/tourist magazine. It's given away free at city offices, libraries, etc. This issue includes pictures, story and interview with Neru. It has been available since the beginning of April.

But it turns out that copies of the magazine have been turning up on auction sites. The city says that resale of the magazine is forbidden. But the mags keep being put up for auction. They apparently go for a few hundred yen (i.e., a few dollars).

A city representative says this is particularly odd since you can download a pdf of the magazine on the city's official site. Here.

More tanuki magic.

Kobayashi Yui welcomes new members

Here's an excerpt from Pon's blog posted Wednesday 14 June:

And the application period for auditions to join Hiragana Keyaki
Only has three days left now.

Up until August 2015, I was an ordinary first-year high-school student, too.

Nagahama Neru blog: The work of an idol

Random Thoughts,  205

2017.06.03

Good evening~

There's a show I love.
It's NHK's "Job Discovery," in which
Entertainers try out different occupations.
It's not being broadcast now, however...

I watched it when I was in middle school,
And realized that
There were all kinds of work in the world
I had the vague feeling that they all were worth doing
But also had their disagreeable aspects.

"Ah, I want to go to work soon," I thought.

(Better to see this from an elementary- and middle-school point of view!!!)

Now it has somehow turned out
That I am working as an idol
(I'm intentionally presenting "idol" as an occupation.)

Although we today
Are not in the image I used to have of idols as
Beings above the clouds who may or may not exist.

Here in an age when all kinds of media are so developed,
Some kind of information is coming out every minute, every second.

Good evening.

Recently, I went to shop at the vintage clothing shop
Marte, in Harajuku!

[Neru at MARTE with the magazine she and Manaka are on the cover of]

It's the shop photographed for Souen magazine!
And all the clothes we wore for the cover were from MARTE!

Hiragana Keyaki gen2 auditions now open!

Full details of the auditions for additional members for Hiragana Keyaki have been posted on the Keyakizaka46 official site.

Submissions will be received until 16 June. The first stage is the application form I posted about earlier, in which applicants answer questions about themselves and include a short video.

The second stage will be screen tests conducted staff, to be given in various cities around Japan --  Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo, Sapporo and Sendai -- between July 1 and July 23. For candidates who survive those stage, there will be a third audition on August 5-6.

The final audition will be on August 11or August 13. One of those will be the date we can expect the new members to be introduced.
