Kakizaki Memi x Saitou Kyouko SHOWROOM 5 Feb 2019 (English subbed)

I watched this broadcast live and found it so entertaining that I have made a subbed version so others can enjoy it. This is the smart, funny, natural Memi I am a fan of. And Kyouko is great in conversation. Over the hour it was on, the show worked its way up to over 50,000 viewers, delighting both Kyouko and Memi.

Be sure to watch Memi's face: it is often in motion, communicating even when she is not speaking.

I've been a fan of Memi and Kyouko right from the time of their auditions three years ago,. Here are notes about various things they mention:

01:54  “Cute lately” – Kyouko emphasizes that Memi has been “cute lately.” Perhaps she’s thinking of how upset she was around a year ago when Memi invaded her Showroom, romped around and tickled her – after Kyouko had told everyone not to come, that she wanted all the time with her fans. Then, Memi was being “not-cute” (i.e., not behaving nicely).

05:10 Hinanonano – They talk about Kamimura Hinano’s hand gesture for her name, and Memi shows how complex it really is. It’s so cute when their voices bounce back and forth in shrill surprise: Kyouko at the complexity, Memi that Kyouko didn't know.

07:10 how to grow taller – Kyouko explains what she did to try to get to 150cm (she's now 153cm - 5'-1/4"). Memi finds it all hilarious. Perhaps partly because she would like to be taller than her 157cm (5'-2").

Why did Kakizaki Memi cry when the Hiragana Keyaki to Hinatazaka name-change was announced?

On the Hiragana Keyaki SHOWROOM broadcast a couple of days ago, they announced that the group would put out its own single, would have a Debut Countdown Live concert, would have their own website and fanclub, etc. Kakizaki Memi seemed happy about all those things.

But the final surprise announcement -- unknown to the members -- was the name-change from Hiragana Keyakizaka46 to Hinatazaka46. When that announcement was made, the other members burst into cries of delight, but Memi looked desolate, almost in tears. Why?

Memi has answered that question in a couple of long Keyaki Message posts. She says that she was shocked by the announcement, and felt that all the work they had put into Hiragana might now count for nothing. She is very emotionally attached to Hiragana Keyakizaka46 -- even loves it -- and really didn't understand why a name-change was necessary.

But she says she likes the new name, which she agrees is perfect for the group's image, and will work hard to understand why the name-change had to happen.

Kakizaki Memi SHOWROOM video -- Magia Record starts Friday

Another wonderful Showroom from Memi, who seems to be more mature and capable every time I see her -- but still so natural and real.

She shepherded Techi through that "Selfie TV" feature from the new release, contributing a lot to Keyakizaka, I believe. They are friends, and perhaps that was the only way Techi would happily make such a feature. I don't want to overestimate the possibility of romance, but it sure was great to see Memi practicing her heavy-hitting embraces on Techi.

Now here's Memi, probably forced to do a SHOWROOM to advertise the upcoming Magia Record stage play. Memi seems to like to concentrate on her singing and dancing and acting. She blogs and messages more than Techi or Suzumoto, but not as much as most members.

Her last SHOWROOM was almost two months ago. For a fan such as me, every one is gold. I much prefer her quietness and calm to the more talkative and  "entertaining" SHOWROOMS others do.

Kakizaki Memi June 23 SHOWROOM subbed video

Here's Memi's Showroom broadcast from 23 June:

This is the show where she says that when she tells Techi she wants to see her film, Techi gets embarrassed and tells her to stop. But Memi adds that she will definitely see it anyway (of course).

Memi has developed a rather elegant and somewhat flirtatious style, but she still seems so natural in her responses. Nothing is planned or set up, she just reacts as subjects come up. It's a conversation, not a performance. I love that.

When I was in elementary school, I loved
The songs of Houkago Teatime.
Today I listened to them again for the first time in a long while.

Various memories came back to me,
And I got into a strange mood, lol.

The first CD I ever bought
Was one by Houkago Teatime

Beef-tongue is the famous specialty of Sendai.

I for one would rather see Memi do another Showroom alone. I don't want to listen to other people gab-gab. I'd rather listen to a few natural, authentic words from Memi as she responds to viewers' questions. And then watch her quietly studying the comments. Lol. Her Showroom was highly enjoyable. Just too short.

On Keyaki Message yesterday, Memi dropped six posts in a row: four funny portraits of herself done with the app SNOW (as a bunny, as the pokemon Nyaasu/Meowth, as a demon with horns, etc.). A post saying how much fun SNOW is. And a little video of a dancing bunny-creature with a stretched version of Memi's face. And then before the performance, she posted a pic of herself with Kage-chan, then after it a happy birthday pic of Higashimura Mei, who turns 19 on Wednesday.

Up to Tuesday, Memi was 25th out of 32 members for number of Keyaki Message posts in the three weeks or so it has been going. But her pace has been increasing recently. Kyonko was at 342, Naako at 258, Kage-chan 228, Aoi 153...Neru 112...Fuu-chan/Pe 61...Sugai 54...Memi 47...Suzumoto 36, Akanen 34...Shida 14...Zumiko2, Techi 1.

Good evening.

I'm sorry for ending up leaving such a gap between posts!
For a week, I was living without a smartphone
⊂⌒っ´-.-`)っ

I couldn't be on today's Music Day show

Because of other work.
I'm sorry for being so late telling you.

It was the first performance of the new song
Monday morning, they cut my skirt,
Which is in the album that will be released July 19.

I'm also late announcing this,
But I was given the cover of the edition of Weekly Shounen Sunday
That came out July 12.

New Hiragana Keyaki Showroom sessions today

Hiragana Keyaki has another set of Showroom sessions in either 10 hours or 13 hours, depending on whether you believe Kageyama Yuuka or Showroom itself.

Showroom says the sessions start Thursday 18 August at 1800h. Kage-chan says in her blog that they start at 1500h. I think Showroom is more likely to be right, but personally, I'll check both times, lol.
