-- '"She wasn't shy at all with Audrey, but spoke up clearly." [As I would have expected, having seen her recent Showroom broadcasts and other interactions.]
-- "We won't see any more confrontations with Moriya, I guess." [Good. That probably helped her to come out of herself a bit at the time, but I think it rather misrepresented her actual nature.]
-- "In GanaOshi, Memi's simplicity and innocence were wonderful." [Memi's naturalness and directness are what I have liked about her from the start, two years ago.]
-- "Her pronunciation was better than Fii's." [Not really. It was extremely good, but Mana's was smoother. And Mana's translation was well done. But Memi mentioned in February that she had done well on her year-end English exam.]
-- "Rather than saying her age in English as her skill, I would rather have seen Memi doing arm-wrestling or a headstand or rhythmic gymnastics." [The edge of ironic humour made her simple "skill" wonderful. Those latter two ideas sound good, though: can she really do a headstand? I imagine she could do rhythmic gymnastics better now than she did at the Omotenashikai in October 2016.]
-- "Memi-san was really taken with Audrey, eh. She was smiling the whole time." [I enjoyed seeing her stand up and take a step toward the curtain when Audrey were about to be revealed. Eager to know, and happy to move. She did the same thing when Miho was introduced for Re:Mind.]
-- "There was just about no humming and hawing. She spoke smoothly and without any hesitation. I was quite surprised. She seems smart. But I'd want her to study how to smile a bit more." [All as I expected. I've always thought she was actually fairly sharp, in her way. And two years as an idol have gotten her over the worst of her shyness. I'm torn whether she should "study" how to smile. Her naturalness is her greatest strength, for me. She has trouble giving the convincing fake smile idols have to give, and I wish she didn't have to learn. Her little half-smile is plenty.]
-- "Agomiii!" [Memi's nickname, "Jaw-mi," referring to how her jaw vibrates when she's overexcited. She said her friends used to say: Let's get Agomi going.]
-- "I really want to see her jaw going agomi." [But she doesn't want you to see it, lol. Mona was happy that Memi's jaw went off when she or Techi hugged her before Christmas 2016, but not when Akanen did.]
-- "'Memifi' is easier to say than 'MemiMana.'" Sorry, Manafi. [Unfortunately true.]
-- "Since Memi-tan said kurumiyubeshi were tasty, April 9 is now Kurumiyubeshi Day." [This is the walnut version of a kind of Japanese-style sweet, which Memi recently said in Message was delicious.]
-- "...Seeing her on Hiragana Oshi, she really is a cute French Doll. But she doesn't seem the same age as HiraTechi and Kage-chan. She seems younger." [True enough. When she was selected, her father said he hoped they realized how young she really was. But that's part of her directness and simplicity: she's not faking or pushing things, just reacting normally. And she does look a bit younger than she really is. Just for reference, here's Rakuten's "French Doll" page.]
-- "Her self-satisfied expression after she said her English." [In the Showroom auditions two years ago, I loved how Memi's face was so mobile, as if subtly reflecting all she thought and felt as it flickered through her mind. She has more control now, but she's still fairly transparent.]
-- The way Memi entered into the conversation was quite skillful. The 70% vote in favour of "Memifi" was a nice interjection. And her skill was amusing. She now seems more than just a cute ornament. [She always was more than that. People just didn't slow down enough to notice.]
-- The bit of anger in her expression just before they said her nickname was nice. [I agree.]
________________________________
Memi's thread on 2channel is the longest of any Hiragana, at 7,683 posts (in two years). Kyonko, Iguchi Mao (!) and Tomita Suzuka (!!) have between six and seven thousand posts. Kumi has 5-6000. And Kage, Miho, Shiho and Nao have 4-5000 each. As of a few hours ago.
Part of the reason for Memi having so many posts, however, was a long rush of sex-obsessed posts a while ago that made her thread unreadable. But things have settled down quite a bit in that regard, fortunately.
For those who haven't seen it, here's the full show. Memi's main part starts at 18:50.
And if anyone is surprised at Memi's comparatively fluent talk, have a look at the Memi-Fi Showroom from December 23, subbed in English.
lowkey glad i don't know how to read Japanese then. don't want to read the sex~ related posts... poor Memi. those pedo needs to go to hell
