Good morning.

Today, August 9th,
It is 73 years since an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

As well as reverently praying for happiness in the next world
For those who made the sacrifice,
I offer sympathy to all those
Who are suffering even now.

I hope this will be a day when we feel at least a bit
That enjoying the life we are living
Is something we will naturally do.

(Taken on this year's visit to Sannou Shrine)

August 11th, starting at 1pm
On NIB [note: Nagasaki International Broadcasting TV]
Kusunoki 2018 will be broadcast.

I will be doing an interview with
President Takata Akira
And High School Peace Ambassador Tokunaga Hinako.

From each of their words my feelings overflowed more and more.
It became a very, very special time.
To be the one hearing from them was truly an honour.

I would be pleased if you all
Made sure to watch the show.

Also on the 11th,
There is a match between
V-Varen Nagasaki and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
It's called the "Peace Match," a match to pray for peace.

I understand there will be a Nagasaki City Tourism booth,
With a thousand cranes corner.

It's at Edion Stadium in Hiroshima
Kick-off is 7pm.

And also
The day before yesterday, Imaizumi Yui-chan's graduation was announced.

I felt desolate and disbelieving...
But I will support Zumi
As she continues to aim at a high, high place.

In the Year 98 band, Zu is the drummer.
It would be great if we could all play together some day.

I will continue to respect her:
Always nice
But hard on herself,
Innocent and charming Zumi.

The day after tomorrow, the tour starts
With a performance in Fukuoka.
Every moment is precious...!

Thank you very much for reading.

I hope people don't feel Neru is giving Zumiko's graduation too little attention. Neru makes a point of posting on 9 August about the Nagasaki atomic bomb. It could be considered her most important post of the year.

Neru's tribute to Zumiko seems elegant and real to me. She thinks of Zumiko as nice, charming, and "天真爛漫 tenshinranman," an expression which implies naivete and simplicity. She says she will continue to respect her and support her as she aims at a "high, high place." Is there any criticism in that? I don't think so, but it does hint at people's opinion that Zumiko refused ever to give up on being centre.

In Neru's description of the Kusunoki show, she refers to High School Peace Ambassador Tokunaga Hiyoko. There are in fact, it turns out, two high school peace ambassadors. I don't know if the other one was on the show or not, but Tokunaga-san goes to the same high school Neru went to in Nagasaki: Nagasaki West.

By the way, the Hiroshima team that will be playing Nagasaki V-Varen in football (soccer) is Kage-chan's favorite team: Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

It sounds from what Neru writes that she will be the one asking questions of the other guests. This would seem unusual if I hadn't seen Neru's new NHK show a couple of days ago: she was such a pro already. As the mature guests unnecessarily brought in to help her said, she is cute, nice and capable. Well, I might want to qualify that "nice" with some tanuki qualities (she laughed wonderfully at a mishap of one of the guests), but in any case, she's remarkable.
