Good evening!!!
Yesterday,
The Nagasaki Lantern Festival began!!!
Hyaa!
What fun!
I will appear in the Emperor's Parade on the 24th.
From 2pm to 4 pm.
I'll be there as the Empress!!
I'm really looking forward to it.
I really, really want you to come for sure.
I mean to say, if you don't go, you'll be missing out.
There are so many different kinds of lanterns,
Beautiful and romantic...!
And as for things to eat,
Of course there will be kakunimanju pork dumplings, as well as sesame dumplings and yachimaki steamed rice packets.
Supremely delicious!!!
I also definitely want to eat the Nagasaki specialty hatoshi [shrimp toast]
Two years ago I posted pictures in the blog!!

The Lantern Festival is originally a Chinese custom, and most of the food Neru mentions will be familiar to anyone who knows Chinese food: pork dumplings, zongzi (rice and meat wrapped in banana leaves and steamed), sesame balls, and Hong Kong-style shrimp toast. Nagasaki was the earliest open port in Japan, starting in the 1500s, so lots of Chinese would have visited there, as sailors and merchants.
Of course these are all the Nagasaki versions of the Chinese originals, adapted to Japanese taste. One website speaks of kakunimanju as: "Simultaneously being both the lightest, most delicate, cloud-like bun imaginable and the richest, sweetest, most succulent pork belly possible, kakuni manjū are perhaps the ultimate variation on a bacon sandwich and frankly, I can’t think of a better combination of meat and bread that I’ve ever eaten."
Neru's previous post has some pics of the Festival:
Neru doesn't say where she and Sugai are, but the shot is possibly from the Orix baseball team's training camp on Kyushu. They went there to meet the young player who loves Keyakizaka and has Neru as his oshi.
It's no wonder Neru keeps dropping her phone, if she waves it around like that, lol.
This post is just about as direct an advertisement for something as I have ever seen Neru give. No hold barred: "We're waiting for you. Come or you'll be missing out!" After all, she is the empress of Nagasaki.
