Nyan-nyan Day

Kakizaki Memi
2018.02.03

Good evening,
It's Kakizaki Memi-nyan

Today Manafi and I did a Showroom-nyan!

Memifi

Today, February 22nd, "Nyan nyan-nyan", is Nyan-nyan Day  [a play on words, see below]

So I'll use cat speech in the blog, too, lol

Nyaa

Actually, before the broadcast Manafi and I travelled around looking for cat ears, but couldn't find any...

So in the end we wore dog ears    lol

Forgive us-nyan

Here:

Hyokkorihan [a comedian, see below]

The broadcast was an hour long, but it seemed over in an instant

With Takase, I somehow just can't help feeling relaxed, lol

Such fun

To everyone who watched,
Thank you very much ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )

Nyaa and nyaan are Japanese for "meow." And a kitty-cat can be called a nyan-nyan. Ni is "two" and ni(an), ni(an)ni(an) is a jokey way of saying 2-22, or February 22nd, which is National Cat Day in Japan.

Hyokkorihan is a comedian whose signature move Memi and Mana are imitating. As Neru has:

Last night's Memifi Showroom was highly enjoyable. A bit slow at first, as they decided on what name to use for their combo. The audience finally voted and chose Memi's choice of "Memifi", of course. But as soon as they went off-script and started just reacting to comments, it was highly enjoyable, a direct conversation with the viewers, drawing them in to be part of the show.

Memi would occasionally explode in laughter at some comment (which she usually but not always then quoted). Natural laughter and natural silence. It appeared that they finally had the screens set up so they could see the comments and look straight into the camera at the same time. Manafi seemed to have learned Memi's ability to look straight into the camera and make a sort of eye contact with the audience.

The top Memi fan I sometimes mention, Shuuta -- the apparently well-to-do university student idol ota from Hokkaido who thinks Memi is great and says he is surprised to find himself actually in love with her -- was #1 in the sea of avatars below the video for a while, and people commented on that. But Memi didn't, although no doubt she noticed. At one point, after some cute gesture of Memi's,  someone commented: "Now I see. Shuuta was right." Today, Shuuta tweeted some other person's criticism of him as a "filthy otaku" and a clip of Memi laughing at a comment he said was from him.

They (or really Memi, since it was officially her show) got four Tokyo Tower gifts, each of which costs the sender about US$90 (¥10,000). At least one was probably from Shuuta, to give him his top place. And the final total of viewers, at the end of the hour, was over 27,000.

Memi's good mood may have partly been due to her already having seen that she sold out 21 handshake lanes in the most recent handshake application period, leaving only three for a full sell-out. I hope she makes a connection between increased blog, Message and Showroom activity and increased sales. But really, Memi was one of the few prominent members with many slots left to buy.

She joked -- with a slightly evil smile -- about her tendency to glom on to people forcefully and stick there. She illustrated by cuddling up against Manafi. Manafi said that she even does it in movie theatres and it's embarrassing. Memi really did look like a girlfriend cuddling up against her boyfriend in the theatre. I don't think they're really romantic in that sense, but they're close friends, and Memi appears to be quite the physical person.

One thing I should mention is that Memi did very little of the winking and come-hither posing she somewhat overdid (in my opinion) last time. Maybe she saw herself and pulled back. Or maybe her elder sister told her to settle down, lol.
